Write a letter to a friend in another country. Use the letter on pages 162-163 as a model.
• Use specific names of specific places so that you practice the rules for capitalizion.
• Use simple, compound, and complex sentences in your letter.
• After you have finished writing your letter, edit it with a classmate.
Tell your friend about your life here: for example, where you live, where you go to school, where you work, where you go on weekends. Tell this friend about some of the interesting places to visit in your area.
Your friend is coming for a visit. You will take a week's vacation in order to show this friend the area. Plan a week's activities and write to your friend about the plan. What will you do every day? Where will you go? What interesting places will you take your friend to see?

Check the letter form. (Does the paragraph look like the model on pages 162-163?)
Is the date in the upper right-hand corner? Check the greeting and closing for capital letters. Check the greeting and closing for commas. Are the closing and signature in the right place?

Is there a period at the end of all the sentences?
