Prewriting In the first three units of this book, you learned and practiced four different techniques for getting ideas: notetaking, freewriting, brainstorming, and clustering. You also learned how to make a simple outline. In this exercise, use the idea-gathering technique that you like best to develop material for a paragraph about animals. You may take notes from the class or small-group discussion. You may freewrite by yourself. You may find that brainstorming works best for you. Many people find that they get the most ideas by clustering. Use the technique that works the best for you personally.
