Fighting talk

A keen writer will never let a good piece ofdialogue escape, no matter when or where they stumble across it. If their partner happens to hurl a particularly juicy phrase at them in the heat of battle, they know they'll only regret it if they don't stop and write it down.

We all find ourselves in confrontational situations from time to time and the more you can identify with the roles of your characters and relate to their feelings and frustrations the more realistic their arguments will sound.

Basing your characters' dialogue on your own domestic disputes may seem heartless and insensitive but for the true creative writer, there's no sense in wasting good material.
