Quiz Show Guests

A number of quiz programs invite celebrities to team up with members of the audience. Stars are used for their name value, but they're also good for spouting a few one-liners.

Comedian Paul Lynde became famous as a regular quiz show guest on "Hollywood Squares" for thirteen years. His distinctive laugh and his quick "ad-libs" were actually carefully prepared answers to the MC's questions.

Host: Why do motorcyclists wear black leather?

Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily.

Host: What do they call a college advisor?

Lynde: An obstetrician.

Host: In England, they're called solicitors. What are they called here?

Lynde: In Los Angeles, they're called models.

Host: Is spanking legal in this country?

Lynde: Yes, but only between consenting adults.
