Devise sonnet variations by mixing the rhyme schemes, stanzas and turns of the basic forms described in this chapter. For instance, you might combine the octave and sestet of an Italian sonnet with the Spenserian rhyme scheme. Or alter the Italian sestet so you end with a couplet. Use your imagination, design at least six variations and analyze them. Above all, determine how the turn should unravel. Then select ideas from your "Idea File" and execute drafts of these variations.
