Level Two

1. Read your journal entries from the Level One, Exercise Two. If you found the narrative-to-dramatic-episode transformation the least effective, take your drafts again from the notebook exercise on narrative poems and transform them into episodes. (Do likewise with lyric drafts to character studies if you found that transformation the least effective.) Afterward determine whether you can personalize methods explained in this chapter so they are more in line with your muse.

2. Select two ideas from your "Idea File" and compose dramatic episodes or character studies — whichever mode you're having more trouble with — according to your new, personalized methods. (Note: If you are no longer experiencing any difficulty, select an idea for a dramatic episode and another for a character study and compose them.)
